Pubfall is Back! Here's the plan for 2025...

ree

Remember in the James Bond film Skyfall, when everyone’s favourite flawed spy jumps into his fancy car and heads north to Scotland for a date with destiny?  Well, here at Pub2Pub we’re big fans of the movie, and so last year we decided to hold our own version, which we called - rather predictably - Pubfall.

Our trip to Scotland differed somewhat from James’, however.  Instead of our run-down old family estate, we chose to stay in a rather nice hotel.  Instead of being pursued by baddies, the worst we were chased by was the hotel staff with our bar tabs.  Oh, and no-one died either, and not a single priceless Aston Martin was shot up – both features of Pubfall we’ll be looking to emulate on this year’s event.

So then, what’s the plan for this year’s event?  Simple.  Similar to last year, but rather more fancy and turned up to eleven.

For 2025, we’ll be staying in the Barony Castle Hotel, around 20 miles to the south of Edinburgh.  This four-star piece of countryside splendour resides luxuriously in the Scottish borders, and we’ll be spending two nights there, arriving on Friday 31st October, and staying until Sunday 02nd November.

So, what can you expect from your Pubfall 2025 experience?

Firstly, it represents a chance to catch up with plenty of like-minded Pub2Pubers, some who you’ll likely have met before, and plenty who’ll represent new faces with a shared interest in all things road tripping.  And there’ll be plenty of chances to chat with faces old and new, whether over a whisky at the castle’s bar, on a coffee stop during a drive-out or most memorably on the Saturday evening, when we’ll be channelling our inner James Bond with a rather splendid sit-down three-course meal. Last year around 75 people made the trip north of the border, so you can expect quite the get-together this time around.

There will be a full itinerary with suggestions for drive-outs and places to visit while we’re there, and for those travelling up from the south, we’ll also be arranging additional hotels for the evening before arriving at Barony Castle, and the evening after we leave, so you can make Pubfall into a full five day, four night break, should you wish.

So, a plush weekend break in the Scottish borders in the company of lots of like-minded folks – what’s not to like?  Here’s a run-through of the details:

When is Pubfall? – Pubfall takes place between Friday October 31st, to Sunday November 02nd.  If you’re travelling up from the south and wish to make a longer break of it, there will also be optional hotels in the north of England in which you may wish to spend the night before, and the night after, to make Pubfall a 5 day, 4 night break (30th Oct - 03rd Nov) - full details on this when we know the approximate numbers

Where is it happening? – Pubfall will be taking place at the Barony Castle Hotel, located near the town of Peebles, in the Scottish Borders

Who can be part of it? – Pubfall is open to anyone whether you’re a veteran of many Pub2Pub trips, or you’re new to what we do.  Basically, if you like cars and road trips, you’re welcome to come along and be part of it.

What car can I bring? – We’re entirely flexible on this one.  As it’s a social event in November, you’re welcome to bring your daily driver, or even fly up and rent something, should you wish.  Though naturally, if you decide to bring something lower and louder than average, we will applaud you for it.

How much will it cost to be part of Pubfall 2025? – that depends on how fancy a room you’re set on.  Here’s the pricing of the various options for the two-night stay at the rather fancy, four-star Barony Castle Hotel:

One person in single room, including breakfast - £270

One or Two people in classic double room, including breakfast - £310

One or Two people in upgraded double or twin room, including breakfast - £390

One or Two people in a suite, including breakfast - £440

The exclusive three course, sit-down meal on the Saturday evening, including a welcome drink and after meal tea or coffee - £55 per person

And finally, if you decide to make use of the optional hotels for the drive to and from Scotland, you can expect a double room to add around another £120/night to the cost of the trip.

So, that’s the plan – a James Bond-inspired trip north of the border to see the road tripping season out in style.  If you’d like to reserve a place on Pubfall '25, drop us an email at ben@pub2pubadventures.com , let us know your room preferences, and we’ll get you signed up.  Please note though, rooms are on a first come, first served basis, so be quick to avoid disappointment.
